8 Fresh Modern Backsplashes, Mexican Street Corn, my LED light therapy mask and more…

A great way to refresh a kitchen is a backsplash update. There are so many fun options available, I could sit and look at dreamy tile ALL Day. While the backsplash is there for a reason, to keep food stains and water splashes from the walls, it has become a focal point and often times a creative outlet. No matter your budget or how much time you spend in the kitchen there is an option for everyone. A sleek and clean design aesthetic is prevalent in modern homes today but the backsplash is a place where you can experiment a bit and find your own happy place.

This gorgeous emerald green backsplash by Mercury Mosaics is paired with simple white cabinetry, brass hardware, fixtures and warm woods throughout. It’s a bold but beautiful statement and I imagine it’s pretty forgiving to messes.

Going Coastal

If you’re a fan of the coastal vibe then these large Morroccan fish scale tiles by Mercury Mosaics will be the perfect fix. The white scalloped tile is clean and fresh with a twist giving the space a little something extra.

Go Bold with Black Grout

I feel like this has been happening for awhile now, but it’s still a thing and why not it looks beautiful! This kitchen took a twist on the infamous subway tile and used square tiles with the black grout for a big contrast. It’s anything but boring and creates a super fun grid effect.

The Full Marble

This is all out marble at it’s best, they didn’t just stop at the backsplash! The team over at GIA bathrooms and kitchens did an amazing renovation on this kitchen complete with marble counters, island and shelving. It’s not only luxurious but’s it’s edgy, contemporary and modern.

Let’s Get Creative…

Custom tile means no more of the same. Multi-colored custom tiles and mosaics are absolute showstoppers. The team at Mercury Mosaics created these custom tiles that bleed out into traditional subways, creating a dramatic focal point.

Heavy Metal

This modern backsplash steels the show and doesn’t have to complete with any cabinet hardware. The team at Naked Kitchens opted for a bronze look with walnut woods, moss green cabinets and Carrara marble, and the contrast is stunning.

Playing with Pattern

A full height backsplash and patterned tile is kind of a trend right now, it combines the counter to ceiling tile in a bold punch. The quartz countertops and open shelving soften and compliment the space. This trend is just that, and while you may love it now it certainly isn’t timeless and will probably need to be updated down the road so keep that in mind while having fun with your selections.

Terrazzo for a Modern Vibe

Nothing says modern kitchen more than one with terrazzo, and this fashion forward kitchen by Play Associates delivers. The counter and backsplash bring together shades of green and brown from the space with a touch of playfulness.
