10 serving pieces that will elevate your entertaining game!

I love shopping … oops, I meant to say I love to shop for entertaining pieces which is great because I can call it inventory! We recently had all 4 kids in town and one got stuck in the backroom on an air mattress and he said, “Wow, I get to sleep in World Market tonight!” It’s true, I do have wire racks full of fun stuff, perks I guess. Anyway, I wanted to share my method when shopping for pieces that can be used over and over but change with the season, holiday or event. You know timeless pieces like a good Chanel bag.

When out shopping, try and choose pieces that include these elements, stone, concrete, woods, and plain white servings in all shapes and sizes. Why? All of these items are interchangeable, they work well together and I personally love a natural arrangement. I like to use vintage items as well and think outside the box when choosing pieces. A cake stand doesn’t have to be for cake, it’s great for cookies, pastries, and cheeses (not all at once). When you buy natural items or natural tones you can add color by switching up napkins, florals, and glassware. Also, appetizers on a long wood board are pretty and a little different which makes it even better! Wood boards aren’t just for cheese. Remember food looks best plated on white, wood or natural stone, and don’t be afraid of platters, trays, or bowls with irregular shapes. I love pieces that look like they just came from a pottery wheel, find those! 🛒

P.S. ~ If you aren’t already using cloth napkins every night as we do I suggest an upgrade, plus the earth ya, know? 🌏

It’s BOGO time at DIFF!

If you live where the sun shines as much as it does here in Palm Springs you might be interested in the BOGO sale on some of my favorite sunnies from DIFF. What’s especially cool about DIFF besides their eyewear is that Each pair purchased means better sight for someone in need. Over 2.7 million people have received eye care from DIFF's Gift of Sight program. I often buy a pair when the BOGO happens because who doesn’t love free stuff? I love a good aviator and I live in the top two pair most of the time, but when you want a little glam I love the Becky and Bella options as well. They even have blue blockers! You may already get yours from retailers like Nordstrom but the online shop has so many options. Have fun shopping!

My Carrot Beet Hummus

Hummus is a spread from the Middle East traditionally made from chickpeas, ground sesame seeds (tahini), olive oil, lemon, garlic, cumin, and salt, and oh so tasty!

Did you know that the very first carrots were purple? In fact, all carrots came before the orange ones we are so used to. It wasn’t until the 17th century, that a strain of carrot was developed by the Dutch that contained higher amounts of beta-carotene and those became the first orange carrots.

If you don’t have rainbow carrots available this hummus can still be made with any color carrot, if it’s a veggie, it can be a hummus. The flavor I love in this hummus is the lemon zest, fresh lemon zest is a game changer!

Have fun experimenting! 🥕

Let’s Party!

We love a good party and this Airbnb was a perfect backdrop for some fun photos, and the gals at this event were lots of fun! Who doesn’t love a Plam Springs birthday? 🍊

CAKE!

As you may know, we always love a beautiful cake but our girls didn’t want a cake, wait what? So we went with some simple vanilla/lemon cupcakes with a sweet little glow up!

DETAILS!

I know it gets old saying, “it’s in the details” but it truly is the little things that make the most impact. Citrus-lined vases of flowers, sparkling soda water in on theme citrus colors stacked in an outdoor metal 3 tier for all the cocktails that these ladies made!

THAT ONE MOMENT

I always like to include some fun ice breaking moment that kicks the party up a notch and get’s people vibing. Here we did these darling little Casamigos tequila shots with a fresh cut lime topper and a little birthday note! Bottoms up!

We look forward to partnering with you on your next event! 🍊
