DIY Textured Canvas

I have been dying to try this for quite sometime now. I am a creative but I’m definitely not an artist like my father or daughter. It seems like you don’t really have to be one to accomplish this little DIY.

The supplies needed:

  • Canvas of your choice. I wanted a framed canvas, this canvas pops out to paint and pops back in when you’re finished. I ordered mine from BLICK, you can find it here.

  • Drywall mud or spackle

  • Blue tape if your frame doesn’t remove.

  • A variety of putty knives. I used palette knives that I found at Hobby Lobby

  • Paint, one white and the other your choice.

Prep

Set up an area with an old sheet or plastic drop cloth. Lightly paint the canvas with white paint to prep it and help keep it from getting wet during the mud process.

Get Creative!

I really had bigger dreams for this project and they look great, they definitely bring the texture that I was going for but the intricate pattern I had planned to do proved a little difficult. I do think you improve with each canvas.

TA DA!

I would definitely do this again, now I just need to decide where to place them!

Fall Is On The Way

I was recently at Hobby Lobby getting supplies for my canvas DIY and the fall stuff is everywhere, as I’m sure you are well aware of. I picked up a handful of fall colored dried florals and created a really quick fall vase. I used an amber vase I have on hand but think I will try and pick up a crock or a vintage piece of pottery. Do you decorate for fall where you live?

Organizing 101

After

We were in Seattle, tackling a large organizing project that consisted of a large playroom, storage room and the family of five’s “drop zone”. It was a push but we completed it all in four short (well, long) days. This before (below) is of a cabinet meant to store the backstock for this growing family. It became a mixture of items and once it was organized we had more space and the ability to see it all and access it easily! Thank you to the Horn Family we had a fun week getting to know you!
