Lifestyle 101
It’s time to put out your fall decor and your front porch is a great place to start! Fun fact, did you know that I used to own a business called Whish and I would do things for friends who “wished” they could have a porch set-up or a decorated Christmas tree. When my kiddos were little the whole fall decor thing was such an announcement to the end of summer and school starting. One thing I love about fall porch decor is that it can be transformed into Halloween and right on through to Thanksgiving just by making a few small adjustments. I used to be fine with those wooden signs that say things like It’s Fall Y’all, but I have really moved on from those days, so you do you, if that’s your thing. Come September I would layer in a hay bale or two, some cornstalks and pumpkins and unusual gourds. A wreath to the front doors and a layered doormat situation. Great for those back to school photos. When Halloween rolls around take a few pumpkins and spray paint them black and even gold, add in some spider webbing in dramatic ways and top some pumpkins with some fake ravens, you know to really spook those trick or treaters! Once Thanksgiving hits just pull out the Halloween and your back on point until Christmas rolls in…. eegads, no not yet!
This Amazon wreath is a little different than your typical orange wreath and will get you through until Christmas.
You can find it here.
This doormat is already layered for you!

These planters come in white and black and can be filled with fall foliage such as mums, or sticks and cobwebs (don’t forget to add some plastic spiders (for Halloween). They not only give a bit of texture but also some height.

This is a great set with candles already provided. You could tie fall ribbon (buffalo check to match the doormat) to the tops and add ravens come October. The great thing is these are great all year long!

If you’d rather not spray paint your pumpkins and you can’t find white one’s locally, this is a great option! I love me some white pumpkins!

I know, I know, spooky right? I have to admit I love these. I even love to use them on some staggered apothecary jars filled with candy corn in my entryway!

This is an obvious choice and works well in most situations. It can be dramatic if you have black front doors, the pop of Fall color is always a good thing.

Favorite Product Of The Week
Dolce & Gabbana Appliances
I realize this toaster is a little over the top, but I wasn’t aware that this collab even took place. “Italian-based SMEG is known for its '50s-retro-looking appliances designed in collaboration with some of the world's top architects. It recently teamed up with Dolce & Gabbana to create the Sicily Is My Love collection, a series of SMEG products finished with classic Sicilian icons and images – from citrus fruit and bright red cherries to sailboats and acanthus leaves.” This line includes, a juicer, two toaster styles, 2 and 4 slices, a fridge, a blender, range hoods and cooktops!

Recipe Of The Week:
Fresh Mango Salsa
We still have mangos in our supermarkets here in California and of course it still feels like summer, it’s just more like 100 degrees instead of 123. This is a great addition to taco night and this also would pair well with fish! It’s not your regular mango salsa though you’ll notice. It’s nourishing to the gut and because of that the lectins and night shades are removed. If gut health is something your working on this is great for you, if it’s not a worry still give it a try because it’s so tasty and if you need some heat add a jalapeño. Easy Peasy! Dave gave this one 5 ⭐️’s.

Fall Wall Color Trends
Whether it’s a statement wall, a door, or a piece of furniture the new fall colors are out and I’m seeing them everywhere. I still love an accent wall, when done right. Here is some inspiration to get you loving your home and some fun new paint this fall.
Dark Jade
The founder of Creative Studio, Old Brand New, Dabito brings an exquisite eye and modernist sensibility to design. His designs are fun and bold and if you haven’t been following him forever like myself, get on it! This deep jade color is so hot right now and with the contrasting mid-century tile work it’s truly to die for.

Mint Green
A little paint can certainly transform a kitchen, like the one by Sugar + Cloth. With white cabinets and counter tops the subtle color gives a pop and the warm wood floors ground the whole vibe.

Terracotta
I am currently OBSESSED with Terracotta in all forms. Could be because it works year round in the desert, but I truly can’t get enough. I love how terracotta paint sets off the tones of green plants and dark woods.

Baby Blue
Most of us don’t really think of baby blue, but I bet your daughter does, the younger set (18-25) is really leaning toward softer colors, and you can too! Even though we think it’s a light color, it still makes a bold statement.

Before & After
Get Organized With Private Lyfe
We recently did a playroom in Seattle and here is a glimpse of a before and after. We added some peel and stick wallpaper to the inside back wall of all the playroom shelves and added the divided drawers and hyacinth baskets. I hear even the youngest (4) is putting her things back after using them because kids like order too!
Before
Life get’s busy and things get a little disorganized, but having all of your things organized and labelled really makes a huge difference.
