Decor that makes you HAPPY

The pandemic has really changed how we live in our homes and some of us also work there too. Let’s face it we are spending more time at home than ever. The choices you make when selecting decor should make you happy and be functional. If when you come through the door you don’t feel a sense of calm and happiness it’s time to make some changes. Hang up mirrors opposite windows to reflect light and make your spaces feel bigger and lighter. Paint the space with clean bright whites or proven happy colors like Skylight from Farrow and Ball. Diffuse some good scents, and bring in some plants, they have great health benefits. Hang up artwork that makes you happy or add in some sentimental mementos to remind you of happy times. Make comfort and coziness a priority and invest in some really great throws and comfy lounge clothes. Light some candles and give yourself a break.

Yes, this is a shameless plug, (many of you might not know about our other business, High Moon Health) but I feel horrible not sharing something that works so well for us and others and it’s these CBD drops! We have a cult following for the sleep blend called Moon Drops. We also offer an energy and a zen blend. All of our bottles are THC free, organic, non-GMO, no solvents or pesticides and third party tested. If you struggle with sleep I cannot tell you enough how much the Moon Drops will change your nights. To see all the blends and ingredients you can find them here.

Recipe of the week:

Pesto Pasta Salad

Ooooo, so yummy! This will be your go to summer salad! It’s one of my favorite Minimalist Baker recipes for summer. It has 9 ingredients and takes just 30 minutes. I will be making this on Saturday, with our first family gathering in a year! I have linked the recipe here. The recipe is GF, DF, Vegan but you can sub out the GF pasta and plant based parmesan to get the full monty. I do encourage you to try it just as it’s written, you might be surprised at how flavorful it is and make a small step toward healthier eating!

Layer Tonal Shades

Using multiple shades of the same color makes a room look polished and pulled together. Layer colors of the same hue while adding texture and subtle pattern to the mix. You really can’t get it wrong. Start with the sofa adding hues with pillows, and throws, keep the tone with structural pieces and artwork. The grounding pieces such as side tables and the coffee table should be kept in similar hues. You could even paint a piece to match a statement wall in the room, especially if you’re into a little DIY. I have always loved a great tonal space, they give off a sense of calm and who couldn’t use that?

One Quick Way to Make Your Closet Look Instantly Cohesive

The answer is HANGERS! It’s pretty simple but changing out your hangers is an easy way to make your closet feel cohesive and instantly add visual continuity. If you look at a closet advertisement you’ll notice all of the hangers are the same for one reason, it looks AHHMAZING. Having the same hangers is more efficient: All of your garments are hung at the same height & width. This also helps you to save space by eliminating bulky and inefficient hangers. Plus, it makes it easier to find your clothes: When your closet is full of random hangers, garments tend to get “lost” behind others. I usually opt for all wooden hangers with the exception of some felt hangers for those tricky pieces. If you want to spend some extra time try categorizing your garments and grouping them together. I have mine all color coded. Which basically means, all of my clothes are hung and color coded from white, tan, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, brown, grey, black. If you have patterned items with multiple colors, decide on its primary color and group it with that color. The basic rule is left to right, light to dark. Lastly, the time is now for you to lose all the plastic hangers, no more metal hangers. Remove all the plastic from your dry cleaning (Did you know covers can trap moisture in the air and cause mildew, staining and weakening of fibers!? Flimsy plastic coffins be gone!) Now when you step into your closet not only will you find your things faster but it will be pretty too!

Thank you friend for taking time out for me today! xx
