It’s almost spring and with that comes Spring Cleaning! The seasonal change from winter to spring is a great time to do a little refresh to your space. Many of us have used the pandemic to get those pesky areas in our homes tackled and if that’s you spring cleaning won’t feel quite so heavy. Honestly, the pandemic started a year ago and I’m sure you’ve bought a few too many sweatpants your old self would never have approved of, not to mention some random purchases in an attempt to feel better. Spring cleaning can be fun if you want it too. I like to take it easy and do a room or two at a time. This is the perfect time to put away some of your heavy decor pieces and swap them out for some lighter throws or pillows. Additionally, using greenery and florals will drastically change the vibe of a space from feeling dull to fresh and full of life. Cleaning out and getting rid of clutter is a sure way to add fresh life to a space. If you don’t know where to start you can see what you should clean first according to your sign!

Supergoop’s GLOW SCREEN

When you live where the sun is ALWAYS shining you need to find a sunscreen that leaves your skin feeling hydrated and protected while also being clean. I love this glow screen as it leaves you with a dewy glowing finish and has a slight amount of coverage making it a great option to go almost make-up free. It has a shimmer without having any visible sparkle which I love. “It also has an added boost of hydration with a blend of hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5 that leaves skin naturally supple and dewy from the inside out. One step, and you’re good to glow.” You can get yours here.

Jen’s Anytime Protein Shake

This is some wonderful goodness, not just your mouth will thank you, but also your body. I typically make this shake in the morning but you could have it anytime. I sort of have a base recipe in my head I follow and then I add in whatever fruits or veggies might be on hand or need to go soon. I will include the recipe below but please feel free to add in anything you like, you can’t ruin this recipe. If you think you don’t like dates give them a chance, they really add a lot to this shake. If you are serving this shake to a picky eater always throw in a banana, it has the ability to mask any vegetable! I typically don’t use a banana in an effort to keep the sugar count down but when my kiddos were little I would serve them a green shake with an entire head of romaine in it and they never knew because of that banana! This is a perfect out the door morning breakfast, enjoy!

Use Textiles For Pattern And Color

If you keep a nice neutral base with furniture staples you can always add pattern and color with textiles, and then you can change them out often or with the season for a budget friendly design. It allows you more longevity and versatility while keeping your furniture the investment pieces. Plus, the details and accessories are what really pull a space together. Like a great handbag or statement necklace does for an outfit.

Organizing Tip:

The Edit

I’ve been using words like “edit” for long before The “Home Edit” Show was a thing. In fact it may be a Rachel Zoe thing for me, if you know then you know. I think my daughters were helping me “edit” my closet while they were still in grade school. When we say edit in the organizing world it usually means we need to pare down items. I like to create categories and or bins to help the edit process go smoothly. If you use bins for this in the end, you have one to sort and re-home and one to donate, etc. So get some bins or boxes out and some sticky notes and get sorting! I highly recommend taking everything out of the space to begin your edit. I know this makes it feel messy and scary but you will be happy you did, I promise. Things that stay can go back into the space, things that don’t get binned. This method works in every area of your home. This is the time to ask yourself hard questions, like when did I use this last, if you don’t use it or love it you should sacrifice it for the space you’ll gain. You see it’s a win, win.

  1. Donation

  2. Storage or Re-home

  3. Discard/ Garbage

You can do it, I promise. In the event that you don’t “want” to do it, there’s a big difference there. Message me and I’ll take care of you!
