My 5 Favorite Things… (Trend forecasting + more)

Welcome Back! I hope you tried a few things from last week with great success! This is a new week and I have some great things to share with you! So, on that note let’s check them out.

Shea McGee Project

Shea McGee Project

The Trend Forecast is in and some of them aren’t too surprising. One trend is back and you might find you like it!

It turns out Mid- Century isn’t dead yet, in fact it’s up 14% and here in Palm Springs that will always be a thing. Traditional and Classical styles are growing in popularity, thank you Shea McGee. Slipcovered sofas. Traditional patterns. Functionality. It’s time to get comfortable without sacrificing on style. Natural materials bring effortless texture into your space, giving your home a perfectly layered look. The move to lighter toned woods and natural materials are on the rise and we don’t mind! Bold wall colors and self expression is now a thing along with an 80’s revival. Sculptural furniture, bold colors, and plenty of drama. The 80s are back—but only the good parts. Many modern furniture lines have lent themselves to this 80’s vibe. Lastly, the new Grandmillennial style which is kind of like your grandma’s house but cooler is on the rise. More and more people are embracing “granny-chic” style—filled with antiques, wallpaper, and ruffles galore, a very romantic feel. I know what I love and I hope you‘ve had a chance to discover what you love!

Grove Order.jpg

Favorite Product:

I have been ordering from Grove and Co. for about 2 years now and they never disappoint. The new line at Grove designed by Jeremiah Brent is so gorgeous and has such an organic feel. I added a few of the items from the line to my order and I’m so glad I did! His soap refills are void of plastic and the glass dispensers are so pretty! I use my grove order for things like chemical free dishwashing detergent, no bleach organic kitchen sponges, hand soaps and re-usable storage bags. Grove has a huge assortment to choose from, you can order clean beauty products, household products, kids and baby, and even pet products. This company really inspired me to take stock of our home and slowly start replacing chemical heavy items with non-toxic products and move away from plastic altogether, because change starts at home! It is a subscription service but you are always in control. You can build a more sustainable home here.

Recipe of the Week:

One-Pot Pumpkin Yellow Curry.

This is a go to recipe for me and everyone goes back for seconds, or thirds! It’s packed full of veggies and the flavor rivals your favorite Thai spot for sure. I often substitute the pumpkin for butternut squash and you can even buy it pre-cut, making dinner prep a little easier. I also like to add a spoonful of thai chili paste for a little spice. The original recipe comes from my favorite Vegan, The Minimalist Baker, she recently added some non-plant based recipes to her site as well. Annnd, if she can make a non-vegan ask for this for dinner when they visit, I can only imagine that her non-vegan recipes are incredible too! You can check her out and grab the recipe here. Yum!

Styling Tip:

I get a lot of compliments on my simple sink styling (or I did before the pandemic) and I like to change it up just a little every now and then. This time I used my new Grove order. I like to use a long wooden board like this one for drama, and my new green glass decanter from Jeremiah Brent looks so naturally gorgeous here. A small faux fern and a natural stone plate elevate the scene. Simple, takes 5 minutes and makes a beautiful statement at your sink.

Product of the Week:

Marie Kondo + The Container Store are a match made in organizing heaven!

The product of the week is just too exciting! It’s like a marriage of two of my favorite things! The Container Store just launched their Marie Kondo line. What could be better than that for organizers everywhere! The collection consists of baskets, kitchen ceramics, wooden boxes, office, drawer and jewelry storage options all in the very serene and calming neutral shades that Marie Kondo would naturally approve of. I’m looking forward to adding her line into some of my new organizing projects! You can shop her line here.
