2021 Kitchen Trends That I Think You Will Love
Floor to Ceiling Tile
This is a trend that isn’t going away soon. It sure makes a clean and impactful statement, plus it’s easy to clean and subway tile is cost effective. Winning.
More floor to ceiling tile…
This floor to ceiling vertical stacked tile is bold and dramatic and I must say I love it. This green is still on trend and well, it’s just beautiful. Plus, those swings look like fun!
Bold Floors Are In
This color blocked tile floor is stunning. Bold floors are in and we are here for it. Not only are the color block floors trending but large checkered floors as well as the large diamond floors are seeing a rise as well. So I guess, this gives you a free pass to have fun when choosing your flooring!
Floors with texture are also on the rise and this herringbone tile is a perfect fit for many of the desert homes here in Palm Springs.
Mid-Rise Single Slab Backsplash
This is a new trend and I must admit at first I wasn’t sure and it took me a minute to warm up to it. It certainly takes fewer cuts and in this case I love the bold black contrast with the warm woods.
The Mid-Rise Backsplash in this modern kitchen certainly looks clean and sexy. I think this trend could work in almost any kitchen.
Range Cubbies
Range Cubbies! If you don’t know what that is it’s a cubby over your cooking range that hides the vent and I’m pretty sure no one can argue with how gorgeous they are.
The options are quite endless and it can be totally customized to fit your needs!
The Single Shelf
The Single Shelf isn’t new but it’s certainly made it’s way to the top for the third year now! This Studio McGee kitchen is stunning, but I wouldn’t expect any less.
Bold, beautiful and practical what more can you ask for?
Wood Cubbies
Wow, I sure love a good cubby and we are finding them popping up everywhere in house design. This version could be quite handy in the kitchen like mini open shelving.
The trick to this new trend is to use warm wood and to use wood that is at least two inches thick, So pretty! Plus, that stacked tile wall sure doesn’t hurt!
Dark Stone Countertops With Warm Wood Cabinets
I am currently having a love affair with walnut cabinets and dark bold stone details. This modern kitchen does it well with the dramatic waterfall island and the tones compliment each other so well.
There is just something so inviting about that warm wood contrast, you feel it too, right?
My Favorite “No Plastic” Containers For Fridge Storage, with links!
In my quest to leave plastic and move toward better and more sustainable storage options, I have tried more than a few items. I really get excited about these small changes. Here are a few of my favorite’s!
Bees Wax is a great substitute for plastic wrap and comes in lots of sizes.
Glass Storage Containers I love glass containers for so many reasons and bamboo lids make these an easy choice.
Cloth Bowl Covers These are great for all different sized bowls and they are washable!
Weck Jars It may be the hippie in me but I LOVE Weck Jars of any size!
Produce bags Have you ever realized how much plastic we put our fruits and veggies in on the produce aisle? Not anymore, these are re-usable and washable and just make good sense.
Re-Usable BPA- Free storage bags ( I have many and just wash and rinse, no need to buy Ziplocs anymore! )
Recipe of the Week:
Jen’s Veggie Bowls
2 large sweet potatoes, cubed.
1 medium bag of brussels sprouts, halved.
1 large onion, coarsely chopped.
1 zucchini sliced and quartered.
1 box of mushrooms, diced.
3 large ripe avocados
2 tbsp. Avocado oil
3/4c. Veganaise or Mayo
6 cloves of garlic ( I use the jarred minced garlic)
1/4c. nutritional yeast
Salt, pepper, onion powder
2 bags of original Right Rice. You can use quinoa or regular rice as well. (But, the Right Rice is so good and packed w/ power).
Preheat oven to 375 and line a cookie sheet with parchment. Layer the sweet potatoes, brussels and zucchini on pan, drizzle with avocado oil and generously salt and pepper, then roast for 30 min or until tender and slightly crisp.
Meanwhile cook the rice.
In a separate pan sauté the onion, mushroom and half the garlic with some avo oil and season with garlic powder and pepper.
For the Avo Sauce: In a bowl or blender ( I use my VitaMix) add three ripe avocados, 3/4c. Veganaise, 3 cloves of garlic, 1 Tbsp. sriracha, and 1/4c. nutritional yeast. Mix until smooth, add water if too think.
When veggies are done. Grab a bowl and layer with rice, veggies from cookie sheet, sautéed onion and mushroom mixture and a generous dollop of avo sauce. Enjoy!
Serves 4 generously. Heats up well for lunch the following day!
Styling Tip:
Again, another sink side styling, this time in the guest bathroom. Same idea as last week. This time I used one of the new wood acacia chargers from Hearth and Hand, you can get yours here. Added a few small hand towels, a rope ball for texture, a room spray and greens in an amber bottle, AND of course my new Jeremiah Brent green glass soap dispensers that I am IN LOVE with! Simple, practical and gives your bath a little perk!
