Lifestyle 101

What are your top three style vibes?

I recently created my Style Survey for new clients and thought I’d share with you some style types, you can take the style survey on the website. Please be aware though that this survey was designed for me to learn about you before a design meeting, not necessarily for the masses to get a response with a result! Maybe, I should do that next? :) I have created the top 15 style types with visuals so you can see what your style is. Most people have a combination of 3 top styles. The Style Survey delve’s a little deeper into color likes and dislikes and personality cues. Hint: Look in your closet, what do you wear? Are you a jeans and chucks kind of girl, or a heels and blazer type? Do you wear color, and if so which ones? Your closet can give you great clues about color and pattern that you’re already drawn to.

What are your top 3? Drop them in the comments at the end of this blog! I’d love to hear! xo

Product Of The Week:

Dime Lash Serum

Ok, my bad, I had planned on taking a before and after of my lashes for this post but I started using the product and after just a few days the results were pretty obvious, so I felt like I missed the boat with the before photo. Soooo, I guess you already know, this stuff is the bomb! 💣

Due to my autoimmune disease, Hashimotos, I have no tails on my brows and I have been filling them in for a long time now. BUT, no more, in just a week I have a full brow and fuller lashes for a really sweet price. Definitely worth a try at just $44!

Find it here.

Recipe Of The Week:

Blueberry Iced Matcha

I recently started following Claire Spork on Instagram as her food photos are to die for and her healthy recipes don’t disappoint. You should check her out!

Food can be beautiful and taste good, ya know? If you don’t want to make your own cashew milk I get it, but honestly you should. Anyway, you can also use a cartoned milk, like oat milk or almond, or whichever milk you desire. The cashew and oat are creamier giving you a very satisfying result. They are also my go to’s. Isn’t she pretty? She is also very refreshing!

Paper Maché Bowl

IMG_5005.jpg

Let’s Make It!

Paper maché bowls are hot right now and you can see why. They have old world charm and they add texture and interest to any room and they are so easy to make!

IMG_4942.jpg

Materials Needed:

  • Paper Maché (click to order from Amazon)

  • Mixing Bowl

  • Plastic Wrap

  • Bowl For The Mold

  • Craft Paint & Paintbrush

IMG_4918.jpg

Step 1

Add paper maché pulp to a large mixing bowl, and then add water a little bit at a time. Mix them together, continuing to add water as needed, until you get a dough-like consistency.

IMG_4916.jpg

Step 2

Cover the bowl you're using as a mold with plastic wrap. This will make it easier to remove the paper maché from the mold once it's dry. I used an old wooden salad bowl that had the shape I was going for, and will clearly go in the trash afterwards but, you are fine to use a bowl that isn’t garbage because it’s wrapped. Eww…

IMG_4921.jpg

Step 3

Press the paper maché dough around the entire mold, creating a layer that's about 1/2-inch thick. Smooth it out as you go, and seal any cracks or holes. I wish I had added a little more water to start but that’s okay, I just added some with wet hands to start smoothing out the texture. I did want a little texture so I didn’t smooth it completely.

Step 4

Place a large handful of paper maché in the center bottom of the bowl and shape it to create a footed base. Make sure you smooth the edges into the bowl to create a seamless look.

IMG_4938.jpg

Step 5

Let the bowl dry for a day or two. It will lighten in both color and weight as it dries. If your bowl isn't drying as fast as you'd like, you can use a hair dryer to speed up the process. I set mine outside as it’s 108 here.

Note: I think had my paper maché been a little wetter it would have a smoother texture. It’s pretty forgivable, but if I did one thing different it would be that. ;)

Step 6

Once the bowl is completely dry, gently wiggle and pull it to release it from the mold, I just flipped it over and pulled on the plastic wrap and it released easily.

Step 7

You could leave the bowl as-is, or paint it any color you like. I painted it with a creamy hue that I had on hand for a more aged look, I also used some gardening dirt and threw it on the wet paint and then gently sponged it off, for a little aging effect. I also painted the inside a little more and tried to fill all the little gaps.

All done!

All in all I’m pretty pleased with her.

If The Met Gala Looks Were Rooms…

Extra Bedding For Guests.png

After

We just did a few simple tweaks to this closet we did in a playroom last month. This particular closet already had these great Container Store drawer units but they weren’t being maximized. We hung up the rod, added the paper roll for easy use for the kiddos, hung her extra linens and used all the drawers for her party supplies, and gift wrap. We labeled the tops of each drawer of course. :) This closet cost her nothing in product and now it is accessible and easy to find the items she needs.

Before

You can see not all the drawers were being used, and some random items needed relocation, old bins and storage containers donated. Easy peasy!
